Hi Martha, I just read your article in the latest Inquiring Mind. Great stuff! Your story of desire and learning to let go of it recalls for me the many years I struggled with the same -- wanting a life that wasn't meant for me to have. It took me many years of shedding adopted selves and downsizing stuff and letting go of ideas, and the journey never ends, really...but I am in that place, now, where life has slowed down enough and I have gotten rid of all that wasn't supporting me spiritually, to where I am actually living, daily, loving whatever god has handed me. I don't always like it, but there's nothing to do but embrace it, in the end. Hugs and namaste, Connie
Martha Kay Nelson is spending her 40th year committed to serious spiritual practice. Instead of heading to the monastery, she has invited the rhythm of monastic life into the community she already inhabits. MK took both Christian and Buddhist vows before her awesome support council on July 15, 2013. The entire year is devoted to daily prayer and practice; the intent is to slow down, get quiet and listen for God. Out of this adventure a book will grow, exploring what can happen if we just give the whole shebang to Love.
